The Kotlin Programming course offered at NIMACT is having the latest curriculum related to modern object oriented and functional programming on the JVM platform, with the view to preparing developers for catering to the Mobile, Backend and Software Industry in India. The curriculum and the study materials are revised and updated every six months for the inclusion of the latest Kotlin versions, language features, coding practices and AI assisted learning methods. Kotlin was created to fix a real problem. Java is powerful and everywhere, but Java code is long, repetitive and easy to break in one particular way - the null pointer exception, which crashes more applications worldwide than any other single mistake. JetBrains built Kotlin to keep Java's power and platform, cut the extra code, and make null a matter the compiler checks before the program ever runs. Google saw the result and made Kotlin the official language of Android. Since then, almost every new Android project and every new Google sample has been written in Kotlin.

For a student it is important to understand that Kotlin is not only an Android language. The same Kotlin runs backend servers with Ktor and Spring Boot, builds desktop software, compiles to JavaScript for web work, and through Kotlin Multiplatform can share one codebase between Android and iOS.
